AT&SF 999624/AT&SF 2299
AT&SF 999624. Oklahoma City, OK. Oklahoma Railway Museum. 8/13/2021.
The caboose is in pretty good shape. We were able to see it in August of 2021, and then again in March of 2023.
The Oklahoma Railway Museum has a lot of great information about the caboose on their website.
Basically, it was built in 1949 as AT&SF 2299. In 1968, Santa Fe rebuilt it for local and transfer yard service. It was renumbered as AT&SF 999624.
The caboose was retired in 1982, and sold to Ken Mitchell of Guthrie, OK, in 1983. It was on display in Guthrie for a number of years, and was donated by Mr. Mitchell's son to the ORM in 2018.
