Choctaw, Oklahoma

One more caboose we looked to find as we were coming home from the McCloud Blackberry Festival was RI 17725, in Choctaw, Oklahoma.

Rock island 17725 is a wooden caboose on display in Choctaw, Oklahoma, at a little "caboose museum" on the corner of NE 23rd Street and Henney Road. It looks to be in really good shape, and very well taken care of. The inside is cleared out–there were no bunks or other cupola viewing areas, like what we have seen on some others. Still, it is well painted and clean.

We did not stop and look for anything in the surrounding area–no offense, Choctaw, but you are just too close to home and really a suburb of OKC! Still we saw plenty of businesses and restaurants along 23rd Street, so I am sure there plenty of things to do if you are in the local area.

I do want to contact the city of Choctaw to see if I can get more info on the caboose. It had to land there somehow, and that tells me there is a story or two floating around there…
