Midwest City, Oklahoma

Although it took us a little bit, Traci and I found RI 17886 on the outskirts of Midwest City, Oklahoma. It is a privately owned caboose, so we could not get up close to it.

Rock Island 17886 is located on some property just east of the corner of SE 44th Street and Anderson Road. This was the third caboose Traci and I found that Saturday, after going to the McCloud Blackberry Festival. It is a little hard to see from the road–you really have to be looking for it. The trees and bushes along the road just get in the way.

We pulled into the driveway (there was a locked gate), and took some pictures from there. it did not look like anyone was home, so we could not ask for permission to get a closer look.

I’m not sure I will circle back to this one. The impression I got was that the owners were not really interested in people like us gawking at their property. Still, like all the other cabooses in the state, I am sure there are some stories there that are begging to be told. I am curious what they are!
